An unofficial
complaint option is to take the matter to the
press or T V. Even a threat of this can bring
a swift result. If you proceed, I advise you to
go to national newspapers or T V, where exposure
will hit the firm hardest. You would do well to
choose Sunday papers where the journalists have
extra time to research their stories. Avoid the
populist tabloids. I know people who have talked
to them and have, without exception, regarded
it as one of the biggest mistakes of their lives.
Whichever complaint route you take, you will be
more effective if you have a record of deals and
conversations with your broker. Keep notes, and
marshal your facts so that you can present them
coherently.
